Various edits of some Phonotrope workshops over the years in case you were interested in seeing some clever people of varying ages and backgrounds.
I would say, if you are thinking of doing a Phonotrope Workshop, it may be useful not to show the students these as the joy of those sessions is that they discover and create things on their own, however, this resource may be useful for you if you are digging into the process.
Please feel free to drop me a line if you would like to discuss me hosting one. I can be found at fliptopjim [at] gmail [dot] com and we can discuss details.
The music that accompanies most of them might get repetitive, apologies for that. It's a track I cobbled together on Garage Band ages ago and looking at them all now I realise I should make a new one, if not more. The key to the music track is that it is set to 90bpm which fixes to the 45rpm loops satisfyingly.
Tasmeem Doha 2015
The one that really kicked things off for Phonotrope workshops.
10 days out in Doha in the most fabulous design and arts festival. No music again - I must add some at some point!
UCA Summer School - July 2019
The UCA Farnham run some great Summer Schools (when there's no pandemic on) and these are the outcomes for the one in 2019.
University of Delaware
One of my most favourite workshops is an annual jaunt to London to take the visiting students from the University of Delaware on a Phonotrope journey.
Organised by the most magnificent Bill Deering, these kids are the luckiest students I've ever met. Also passionate and polite too so well done them.
