Made in 2006 (I think) for the titles for a truly brilliant contemporary dance company called ‘Diversions’, now called the National Dance Company Wales.

The dance piece was based in a forest and revolved around the meeting point between a group of grumpy old men and a group of magical and marvellous red birds. Very hard to describe but it was both hysterically funny and extraordinarily touching and my first contact with great dance.

For the titles Ed Talfan and Warren Orchard went into some woods outside Cardiff and took loads of stills of the same patch of forest with long exposures and a variety of lights. I took them into After Effects and cut them out into different compositions fading them through to create the feeling of movement through the areas using the fire-fly particle to string them together. I wish the lettering/text didn’t have that shine effect in it as it was unneccesary but I really really like the whole piece besides.
